WEEK TRIP TO US|NY & DC|Visit to Columbia University

Travel blog: New York City and Washington DC. Visiting Columbia University and Albert Einstein Memorial. Museums. Come with me on my first time outside Europe!

So last month my family and I went to the States for a week. It was my first time outside Europe, so I was very much looking forward to it.

I also had never been on such a long flight (about 8 hours) so I was curious about it. It wasn’t nearly as bad as some people say long flights are. I had stuff to do, and a good book to read, so it was okay.

Despite walking a lot, I enjoyed the trip. We did mostly touristic things, but there were some original places in our route. Let’s get started!

Part 1: New York City.

Usual attractions:

We got to the top of the Empire State building (the views were amazing), and also of the Rockefeller Center. We went to Wall Street, the 9/11 Memorial, Little Italy, Chinatown, Brooklyn, Central Park, the Metropolitan, Harlem, and the Bronx…

Us at the top of the Empire State (it was windy!)

We also went on a really fast boat, called The Beast, to the Liberty Statue. I had so much fun there!

“My” things:

We visited Columbia University.

Alexis Castle, from Castle, “studied” there. She was one of my greatest fictional role models, so that was a good enough reason to visit.

On the other side, it seems that Columbia is actually a pretty good, Ivy League, university.

I got excited when I saw some (applied) maths:

Maxwell’s laws (?)

It turns out that the main campus is pretty nice.

And they also have a Mathematics faculty

And they also have a Maths library!!

Sadly, I don’t have any pictures, but it was quite interesting. We were mainly around the part on the history of the universe, which includes a 30 min film on a planetarium, Dark Universe.

Part 2: Washington DC.

Usual things:

The White House, the U.S Capitol, Lincoln Memorial, IIWW Memorial, Arlington Cemetery…

Less common things:

Albert Einstein Memorial.

I can understand some of the stuff written on the book!

Space is very cool, so I liked it!

They had real spaceships there!
