As explained in my last post, I have finished my PhD. My PhD thesis is now available online and Open Access here.
I am delighted to say that on October 1st, 2025, I joined the Rohani Lab at the University of Georgia (UGA). I am a Postdoctoral Research Associate, studying the ecology and evolution of influenza viruses.
Professionally, I am excited to continue doing academic research in (roughly) the same field as my PhD. I look forward to developing further as a scientist during my postdoc and contributing to the Rohani Lab and the Odum School of Ecology. I am also happy to have this opportunity to interact with the epidemic modelling community in the USA.
Personally, I am stoked that I will be living for at least one year in the USA: in Athens, Georgia. Readers of my blog know that I’ve been yearning to move somewhere outside of the UK and Spain, and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I am sure it will come with some challenges to navigate. But otherwise it wouldn’t be fun.
Finally, because I don’t know when I’ll write another post, this is your friendly reminder to subscribe to the blog (it’s free) by entering your email below: that way, you’ll get an email when I do.
Go dawgs!
